Hide and Seek

Meg & John- Eris.

Back Story

Years ago, Eris, Goddess of Chaos and Destruction was banished from Olympus by Zeus. Stripped of her immortal powers, and cast to live the rest of her life among the mortals in misery.

Although she could no longer live forever, Eris’s power had mostly stayed intact- that being Eris had found her own way to live forever.

Thus the start of chaos beings. Creatures meant only to create misery wherever they went. Creatures formed by the ex-goddess, living among the mortals.

But along with being her minions, the beings also served another purpose. When Eris’s body had reached it’s limit, she would choose one of the beings and transfer her self into their body until it reached it’s age limit. And the cycle would continue.

Furious at this, Zeus created soldiers. Men who soul purpose was to kill off the beings that served Eris and hopefully stop any means in Eris continuing her life.

John Smith was one of those Soldiers.

And while on his journey to exterminate Eris’s minions, he had come across a girl that managed to stop him from firing.

Megara- or Meg as she preferred was her name.

And as time went by they fell in love.

But Meg was a minion, and what’s worse was she was next to be Eris’s body.

Present

John Smith had traveled to the realm of chaos. A maze of sand and home of the ex goddess Eris. He stood in wonder, staring at the destroyed ruins of a throne room.

And then she arrived.

Coy smiles, ebony hair and a laugh that made chills crawl up his spine.

Pushing his fear aside, he begged, pleaded to the goddess to choose someone else as her next host instead of Meg, offering anything as long as she wouldn’t take Meg away.

She could destroy the world and he wouldn’t care, as long as she didn’t take Meg away from him.

But Eris didn’t give in.

With a wave of her hand she had summoned her minion. Horrified and crying, torn between master and love. And then chained, held hostage by her own master.

“What would you be willing to give?”

John stared, watching as Meg shook her head silently pleading with him not to do this, to let go.

“Myself.”

He turned to her, offering his life in exchange for Meg’s freedom. If Eris let go of Meg and did not harm her, John would give his own self up to Eris.

With a wicked grin, Eris agreed.

With a cross over her heart she swore that no harm would come to Meg.

And the binds were slipped away from Meg, as she gasped for air.

But Eris wasn’t the goddess of Chaos for nothing.

Running her finger along the pillar it cracked and shuttered slipping from its solid hold to the ground and tilted forward ready to crush the blonde soldier. With a scream Meg ran forward flinging herself forward and pushed him out of the way, but took his place in being crushed beneath the stone.

She died then. Her life line cut as all mortal’s were when they died.

Eris hissed, the cross embedded into her skin glowed brightly, burning her flesh as she drifted upwards. With Meg’s death Eris’s promise was broken and the consequences of it consumed her. Shrouding her in shadows she gazed down at the broken man that sat beside his dead love, glaring hatefully until she swallowed disappearing with a small burst into nothing.

And John was left alone, sitting in abyss with nothing but darkness and the memories of the girl that saved him.
